Once upon a time—and so it always will be…
Those three famous words carry far more than just an introduction. They describe a state that has never lost its relevance: the stories of fairy tales do not take place in the past. They unfold within a consciousness that condenses and expands again. Right now. Again and again. Within all of us. Our earliest ancestors already knew this, which is why they did not write these stories down but told them instead. From mouth to ear. As a living tradition, not an archive. Because life itself is constantly changing, this made perfect sense, allowing the stories to be retold in ways that fit the world as it was at that moment. And today—we are truly grateful that some people broke with that meaningful tradition and wrote them down after all. Because once we humans stopped passing on the old wisdom through storytelling, those ancient treasures would otherwise have been lost.
Fragmented Knowledge from the Bronze Age
What has been passed down, however, is usually only fragments. Individual elements were removed, rearranged, or reinterpreted. The moral was adapted to fit the circumstances of the time. As always, the goal was to teach a lesson that seemed more appropriate. The result, however, is often a story that in some ways turns the original into its very opposite. Something we can recognize on the great stage of life as well—so much seems somehow upside down. It is high time for another shift in perspective…
Unearthed Once More – Fairy Tales and Myths in Their Original Form
In this series, we dragons dig old fairy tales, legends, and myths out of the archives that the internet has made accessible to us. Sometimes we discover real treasures—fairy tales and legends that are more than 6,000 years old. Often they are still known today, just under different names and in altered forms. And the original message they contain remains strikingly relevant.
We Dig Deeper and Look Higher
Albert Einstein once advised parents to read fairy tales to their children if they wanted them to become intelligent. Not textbooks or educational programs. No, fairy tales, because he knew exactly why: these stories contain far more than is visible at first glance—they carry meta-messages. Something that is never stated directly, yet still reaches us, because beneath the surface of the story lies a layer that speaks directly to consciousness—without taking the detour through the intellect. Those are precisely the layers we uncover. And then we take a closer look at them. The bird’s-eye view reveals a different picture than the view from below. Read metaphysically, a story has a different meaning than it does physically, though this is not meant as a value judgment—both readings are valid; they simply reveal different layers of the same truth.

This work set something in motion. The idea of setting the meta-messages of old—and new—fairy tales to music, making them even more accessible to people once again. What began as pure analytical work found its own musical form.
